Invitation Psalm 145:13

"Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does."

Bible Song Psalm 26

Vindicate me, Lord,
for I have led a blameless life;

I have trusted in the Lord
and have not faltered.

Test me, Lord, and try me,
examine my heart and my mind;

for I have always been mindful of your unfailing love
and have lived in reliance on your faithfulness.

I do not sit with the deceitful,
nor do I associate with hypocrites.

I abhor the assembly of evildoers
and refuse to sit with the wicked.

I wash my hands in innocence,
and go about your altar, Lord,

proclaiming aloud your praise
and telling of all your wonderful deeds.

Lord, I love the house where you live,
the place where your glory dwells.

Do not take away my soul along with sinners,
my life with those who are bloodthirsty,

in whose hands are wicked schemes,
whose right hands are full of bribes.

I lead a blameless life;
deliver me and be merciful to me.

My feet stand on level ground;
in the great congregation I will praise the Lord.

Bible Reading Romans 4:1-5

What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, discovered in this matter? If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about — but not before God. What does Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness."

Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation. However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.

Dwelling

Read again, perhaps out loud ... how has God's Word moved you? Ponder and meditate what has connected with your heart or mind ... pray to God what it is that has moved you today ... turn your thoughts to God and quietly enjoy being with him.

Prayer CD 2.2

God of boundless mercy, I come empty-handed, confessing the bankruptcy of my works and drawing on your infinite grace by faith. Thank you for the gift of righteousness in Jesus, who was made to be sin and a curse in my place, on the cross, making me right with you. In the Savior's name, amen.

Blessing Psalm 130:5

"I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope."
