Invitation — Psalm 66:20
"Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!"
Bible Song — Psalm 112:1-8
Praise the Lord.
Blessed are those who fear the Lord,
who find great delight in his commands.
Their children will be mighty in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in their houses,
and their righteousness endures forever.
Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
who conduct their affairs with justice.
Surely the righteous will never be shaken;
they will be remembered forever.
They will have no fear of bad news;
their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear;
in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
Bible Reading — Job 42:1-6
Then Job replied to the Lord:
"I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.You asked, 'Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?' Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.
"You said, 'Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.'
My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.
Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes."
Become aware of God's loving presence and read again ... what in God's Word has caught your heart's attention? Is there a command to be obeyed, a comfort to be savored? Talk to God about the Scripture you've just read ... yield yourself to God and enjoy his presence.

Prayer — HC 88/90
Saving God, before my very eyes, visibly portray Jesus Christ crucified. Humbled before the cross, seeing your suffering, may I die to myself and come alive to you. As I find life in your death, let me taste your joy in my sorrow. Amen.
Blessing — Matthew 5:8
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God."
