Invitation Psalm 135:13

"Your name, Lord, endures forever, your renown, Lord, through all generations."

Quiet

Bible Song Psalm 52:1-5, 8-9

Why do you boast of evil, you mighty hero?
Why do you boast all day long,
you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God?

You who practice deceit,
your tongue plots destruction;
it is like a sharpened razor.

You love evil rather than good,
falsehood rather than speaking the truth.

You love every harmful word,
you deceitful tongue!

Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin:
He will snatch you up and pluck you from your tent;
he will uproot you from the land of the living...

But I am like an olive tree
flourishing in the house of God;

I trust in God's unfailing love
for ever and ever.

For what you have done I will always praise you
in the presence of your faithful people.

And I will hope in your name,
for your name is good.

Bible Reading Exodus 19:3-8

Then Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain and said, "This is what you are to say to the descendants of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel: 'You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself. Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites."

So Moses went back and summoned the elders of the people and set before them all the words the Lord had commanded him to speak. The people all responded together, "We will do everything the Lord has said." So Moses brought their answer back to the Lord.

The Lord's Prayer

Prayer HC 54

Gathering God, we tend to think that we make church happen. So ground us again in the reality that it's you who carries us to yourself. We're a living part of this community of grace not because of our feeble efforts but because of your love. Protect your treasured possession from those who would make it a legalistic body, and preserve it in the gospel. Amen.

Blessing 2 Thess. 2:16-17

"May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word."
