Invitation Psalm 118:24

"The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad."

Quiet

Bible Song Psalm 11

In the Lord I take refuge.
How then can you say to me:
"Flee like a bird to your mountain.

For look, the wicked bend their bows;
they set their arrows against the strings

to shoot from the shadows
at the upright in heart.

When the foundations are being destroyed,
what can the righteous do?"

The Lord is in his holy temple;
the Lord is on his heavenly throne.

He observes everyone on earth;
his eyes examine them.

The Lord examines the righteous,
but the wicked, those who love violence,
he hates with a passion.

On the wicked he will rain
fiery coals and burning sulfur;
a scorching wind will be their lot.

For the Lord is righteous,
he loves justice;
the upright will see his face.

Bible Reading Matthew 2:19-23

After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, "Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child's life are dead."

So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.

The Lord's Prayer

Prayer BC 12

Lord of hosts, the thought of angels can seem sentimental or fanciful. But maybe they're the best explanation for those late night dreams, those murmurs of something more. How much of reality do I miss simply because I fail to acknowledge unseen hosts? Thank you for your angelic messengers who do your bidding and serve your people. Amen.

Blessing Romans 8:15-16

"The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, 'Abba, Father.' The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children."
