Invitation Psalm 145:3-4

"Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts."

Bible Song Psalm 53:1-4a, 6

The fool says in his heart,
"There is no God."

They are corrupt, and their ways are vile;
there is no one who does good.

God looks down from heaven
on all mankind

to see if there are any who understand,
any who seek God.

Everyone has turned away, all have become corrupt;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.

Do all these evildoers know nothing? ...

Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When God restores his people,
let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

Bible Reading John 4:46-53

Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. And there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum. When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death.

"Unless you people see signs and wonders," Jesus told him, "you will never believe."

The royal official said, "Sir, come down before my child dies."

"Go," Jesus replied, "your son will live."

The man took Jesus at his word and departed. While he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living. When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, "Yesterday, at one in the afternoon, the fever left him."

Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, "Your son will live." So he and his whole household believed.

Dwelling

Read again, perhaps out loud ... how has God's Word moved you? Ponder and meditate what has connected with your heart or mind ... pray to God what it is that has moved you today ... turn your thoughts to God and quietly enjoy being with him.

Prayer HC 47

Healing Lord, when I'm sick or in trouble I want you near. I wonder how your hand will heal and your power will overcome when I feel so alone. Let me trust, like the royal official, that your word will heal and your power is not limited by time and space, knowing that you are always near. Amen.

Blessing Psalm 17:7-8

"Show me the wonders of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes. Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings."
